WelcomeTroop 104 exists solely to enhance the character and develop integrity in young men through the principles summarized in the Scout Oath and Law. While in pursuit of this goal, the Troop provides opportunities for Scouts to learn basic Scouting skills, practice the patrol method, and develop leadership skills. Guide to Boy Scouts and Troop 104 The best source of information for Boy Scouts is the Boy Scout Handbook, available at: BSA Trading Post: 3231 Atlantic Avenue Raligh, NC (919) 872-4884 We highly encourage you to buy this book early, as it will provide you and your son with more details on the topics that we briefly discuss below. The Handbook is revised every few years, so make sure you get the newest printing. What are Boy Scouts? Simply put, they are boys between the ages of 11 and 17, or who have earned the Arrow of Light Award, or have completed the fifth grade, who are learning skills that will help them develop into our leaders of tomorrow. Scouting is basically a game with a purpose of teaching and developing our children. To learn more about scouting, please visit the BSA web site. How Does a Boy Join? The requirements are listed on page 4 of the Boy Scout Handbook and are easy to complete. Most cub scouts seeking a troop are already doing these activities as part of their Arrow of Light rank advancement. Any scout leader will be happy to help explain the steps with you. A copy of the Handbook should be one of your first purchases. Created by: admin last modification: Monday 14 of April, 2008 [00:35:28 UTC] by admin |
